COM WEEK

COMMUNICATION TUTOR
Need COM help? Alex Ewers is here to help! Alex has tutoring lab hours Tuesdays 11:30-3:15 and 5:00-6:15, Wednesdays 5:00-6:15, and Thursdays 11:30-2:00 and 5:00-6:15.  Labs are by appointment only at least 1 hour in advance.  Sign up at alexewers.setmore.com 
 
INTERNSHIPS                                                                                                                    
It’s that time of year to start searching for and applying to internships to gain real-world experience. Internships are the best thing to help build your resume and expand on what you are learning in the classroom. As a dues-paying member, you have access to internship opportunities provided at the national level. We also provide our members with updated internship applications at our weekly meetings.
 
 
The Hauser Group is a small public relations firm in the greater St. Louis area looking to hire a paid summer intern. For more information, visit their website, and apply by emailing Abigail Rolland: Abigail@HauserGroupPR.com
 
Allstate is looking to fill their full-time, paid summer internship at their headquarters in Northbrook Ill.  The internship will focus on corporate communications across the region.  Applicants must be returning to school in the fall, not graduating, to be eligible for the position. CIT Trucks of Normal is looking for a marketing intern! The intern will work with different departments of the company to assess and address their individual marketing needs. This internship has a very high probability of leading to a full-time position! Find more information and apply here.
 
Motion PR, the boutique firm we visited on our last agency tour, is looking for a summer intern! Submit your application here.
 
Weber Shandwick, the other PR agency we visited, is also looking for summer interns. Weber is one of the biggest PR agencies in the world and mainly focuses on business-to-business PR.  Applicants must be graduating seniors. Apply here.
 
The Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development is looking for an intern for the 2018-19 school year. The position is right on campus, counts for elective credit and has a commitment of about 10 hours per week.  Learn more here.
 
All Community Events is an organization responsible for planning and executing several half marathons and 5-10k’s in the Chicagoland area. They are looking for a paid summer intern! Click here to learn more.

GAMMA PHI CIRCUS VOLUNTEERS
We will be volunteering with the Gamma Phi Circus concessions stands during the performances on April 20 and 21. This is a great opportunity to help us fundraise for the Chapter, plus you’ll get to see the show! ROCK RESTAURANT FUNDRAISER
PRSSA will be hosting a fundraiser on Friday, April 20 from 1-8 p.m. at our partner the Rock Restaurant! PRSSA will receive a percentage of the profits every time the chapter is mentioned while ordering. Join the event on Facebook and share with family and friends!  Questions? UPTOWN DOWNTOWN SOCIAL

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
APO will be hosting a networking event for students from various campus organizations on Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in SCH 211. PRSSA NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2018
National Conference is jampacked with networking opportunities including Career Tours. The tours are your chance to interact with various agencies and corporations to explore the public relations/communications facets of their work and learn more about their operations. CENTRAL ILLINOIS PRSA
The Central Illinois chapter of PRSA (our parent organization) will have a dinner meeting Wednesday, April 25 in Bloomington-Normal at the Alumni Center. This month’s event will feature America’s Crisis Guru, Jim Lukaszewski. The meeting costs $25 for students and includes a full meal. You must sign up ahead of time, however you will pay at the door via cash or check (Note: if you sign up but do not attend the event, you will still be responsible for paying the $25 as this fee goes toward the meals prepared for the event). SENIOR SEND-OFF PREPARATIONS
Attention graduating seniors: please submit a baby picture to Alex for our senior send-off at our final meeting on Tuesday, May 1. This is also when you will receive your cord. PRogressive image (PRi): Student-run public relations firm that provides students with pre-professional experience by working with real world clients which include The Rock Restaurant, School of Communication and The Bloomington Edge.
Relations: This committee is here to help you improve your writing, editing and research skills.
Development: Helps plan and execute all Chapter socials and fundraising events.
