Summer 2020

 The Fund for American Studies
Journalism + Communications Academic Internship Program
You can practice communications anywhere, but spending a summer in the Nation’s Capital, practicing PR can’t be beat!
Gain real-world experience and make connections that will help open doors after graduation.
What’s Included?
  • An internship placement in the field of journalism, communications or public relations (newspaper, magazine, radio, news service, corporate or nonprofit communications office, PR firm)
  • Coursework in economics for journalists designed to complement your real-word experience
  • Guest lectures featuring prominent reporters, editors and communications professionals
  • Networking through career-focused panels and small group discussions led by professionals working for NPR, POLITICO, C-SPAN, National Geographic, Congressional communications directors and many more.
Full + Partial Scholarships
·         85% of students receive full or partial scholarship awards.
·         We strive to make the programs accessible and affordable to the best and brightest students regardless of financial status. Scholarships are awarded based on need and merit.
·         At least 40 scholarships that cover tuition and housing expenses will be provided to summer applicants on a rolling basis beginning at the December 10 early application deadline.
·         Awardees are responsible for the $500 program fee, travel to Washington, and food/personal expenses during the program.
Application Deadlines
·         Early Deadline: December 10
·         Priority Deadline: February 11
·         Final Deadline: March 10

Taneka did an AWESOME job coordinating the Meet The Client presentation!!
Hope you all enjoyed hearing from Maliyah Minks and Worn, Again Too! Both presenters did an amazing job, and the work they do is so inspiring! Make sure to check them both out :)
