MEMBERSHIP DUES
If you paid your dues last semester, then you are good for the calendar year. If you are a new member or did not pay dues last semester, you must pay $80 for the calendar year. We will take cash or check, and all checks are made out to ISU PRSSA. Deadline is Feb. 22.

INTERNSHIPS
It’s that time of year to start searching for and applying to internships to gain real-world experience that will build your resume and expand on what you are learning in the classroom. As a dues-paying member, you have access to internship opportunities provided at the national level. We also provide our members with updated internship applications at our weekly meetings.
 
Applications are now being accepted for Summer 2019 Journalism and Communications Academic Internship Programs in Washington, DC. This program includes undergraduate academic credit from George Mason University, internship placement with a media or PR organization in the Washington, DC Metro Area, and fully-furnished on-campus housing. Possible internship sites include The Washington Times and The New York Times. Students who are members of PRSSA will be given priority consideration during the internship placement process. The ISU School of Communication is looking for PR Interns for this semester and upcoming semesters. Attached to this email is a flyer with more information on this opportunity. Contact Tom Lamonica at talamon@ilstu.edu if you are interested.
 
COUNTRY Financial in Bloomington is accepting applications for its Public Relations Internship for summer 2019. Responsibilities include tracking traditional and social media mentions daily, assisting with planning media campaigns, developing story ideas and more. For additional information about this internship and to apply, click here. COUNTRY Financial is also searching for a Knowledge Analyst Intern, Training Design Intern, and Instructional Design Intern for summer 2019.
 
Assurance, an independent insurance brokerage firm in Schaumburg, Ill is looking for a Marketing Intern. The position involves hands-on involvement in all aspects of the Assurance marketing and communications department. Responsibilities include writing blog posts, contributing to Assurance’s social media strategy via social listening, supporting webinar and video efforts by transcribing content and more. ISU SPRING 2019 INTERNSHIP FAIR AND CAREER FAIR
The ISU Spring 2019 Internship Fair and Career Fair are soon! The Internship Fair is Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 4-7 p.m. at the Bone Student Center. From 4:30-6:30 p.m., there will be free headshot photos. The Spring 2019 Career Fair is Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 4-7 p.m. at the Bone Student Center. Prepare for the Internship and Career Fair by attending InstaCareer on Feb. 4 or 12 at the Bone Student Center. 
 
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
It’s time to start looking for scholarships! The company Fresh Prints is currently taking applications for a $1,000 scholarship. Applications are due Feb. 28. To learn more or to apply, click here.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
PRSSA dues-paying members have access to thousands of communication and public relations job openings across the world! You can log in to the PRSA Jobcenter with your MyPRSA account, which is activated once you join PRSSA.
 
APPLYING TO THE PR MAJOR?
If you are interested in applying to the PR major, listen up! You must attend an informational meeting on one of the following days:
  • Tuesday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m.
  • Friday, March 1, 11 a.m.
 
You must also write an essay. The application is due by March 1.
 
COM 178 GUEST SPEAKERS
PRSSA members are invited to attend COM 178 and listen to the PR guest speakers on the following days. The class meets from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Edwards 225 (Capen Auditorium). Arrive before class begins and stay until it ends.

PRSSA NETWORKING MIXER
The PRSSA Networking Mixer is a cocktail-style networking event on Feb. 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Hancock Stadium Club in Normal. This is the perfect opportunity to network with PR and communications professionals as well as other ISU students. Appetizers and beverages will be provided. Business professional attire is required, and this event is open to all ISU students. If you are an official PRSSA dues-paying member, you do not have to pay for a ticket, just email prssa@ilstu.edu to RSVP. If you are not a dues-paying member, tickets are $6.94. Click here to RSVP and buy a ticket. The deadline to buy a ticket/RSVP is today, Feb. 13 at 11:59 p.m.
 
SAVE THE DATE: PRSSA AGENCY TOUR
Our next agency tour is March 22. We will visit USA Today Sports Marketing and the Chicago Bulls. To attend, you must be a PRSSA dues-paying member or pay $20.

FORUM PUBLICATIONS
The winter 2019 publication of FORUM is now available. FORUM is PRSSA’s national newspaper and gives members the opportunity to read about the latest industry news and trends, get advice from professionals and learn about the Society. All dues-paying PRSSA members can write articles for FORUM to gain valuable writing experience and improve your resume by having your writing be published nationally. If you have questions about the publication or submitting articles, review the submission guidelines and contact the Publications Editor in Chief at FORUM@prsa.org. To view the winter 2019 edition of FORUM, click here.     
 
REGIONAL CONFERENCE
The PRSSA Regional Conference, PRedict the Future, is March 1-2 in Loyola University Chicago’s Watertower Place Campus. The Conference is hosted by Columbia College Chicago, DePaul University and Loyola University Chicago and focuses on diversity, ethics and globalization. The fee is $70. Deadline to register is Feb. 17. To register, click here.
