Ask Katie Helander: krhelan@ilstu.edu INTERNSHIPS It’s that time of year to start searching for and applying to internships to gain real-world experience that will build your resume and expand on what you are learning in the classroom. As a dues-paying member, you have access to internship opportunities provided at the national level. We also provide our members with updated internship applications at our weekly meetings. Applications are now being accepted for Summer 2019 Journalism and Communications Academic Internship Programs in Washington, DC. This program includes undergraduate academic credit from George Mason University, internship placement with a media or PR organization in the Washington, DC Metro Area, and fully-furnished on-campus housing. Possible internship sites include The Washington Times and The New York Times. Students who are members of PRSSA will be given priority consideration during the internship placement process. COUNTRY Financial is searching for a Knowledge Analyst Intern, Training Design Intern, and Instructional Design Intern. Assurance, an independent insurance brokerage firm in Schaumburg, Ill is looking for a Marketing Intern. The position involves hands-on involvement in all aspects of the Assurance marketing and communications department. Responsibilities include writing blog posts, contributing to Assurance’s social media strategy via social listening, supporting webinar and video efforts by transcribing content and more. PRSSA NETWORKING MIXER If you are attending the PRSSA Networking Mixer, please read the following for important information. Park in the parking lot in front of Hancock Stadium. Enter through the front of the Stadium, and then take the elevator to your right up to the third floor. There will be signs located to help guide you. Wear business professional attire (email if you need outfit advice!) and feel free to bring your business cards, copies of your resume, and/or a padfolio.
