HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH
We are currently putting together a committee to visit high schools in the Bloomington-Normal area. We will present about PRSSA and teach high schoolers about a new career option they may not be aware of! INTERNSHIPS
It’s that time of year to start searching for and applying to internships to gain real-world experience that will build your resume and expand on what you are learning in the classroom. As a dues-paying member, you have access to internship opportunities provided at the national level. We also provide our members with updated internship applications at our weekly meetings.

The School of Communication is looking for PR interns to help serve the School’s PR needs! A full internship description and instructions on how to apply are listed in an attachment below.

Senator Richard Durbin offers an internship program for undergraduate students of all majors, and graduate and law students who are interested in experiencing the day-to-day operations of a Senator's office. Applications for the Spring 2019 internships are now open! Internship opportunities are in Illinois and Washington, D.C. Tasks include conducting legislative research, assisting with casework matters, working with the press team and more. This is the perfect internship for those interested in political public relations! To learn more, click here.

The public relations firm Ketchum is looking for interns for its 2019 Summer Fellows Program. During the internship, individuals will work with clients, participate in agency events, write client materials and more. Ketchum’s application process involves an interactive application game! The Wall Street Journal, an American news organization, is currently looking for interns for several summer 2019 internship positions. Internships are in New York and include a News Design Internship, Reporting Internships in the Americas, Video Internship, Magazine Internship and more. Applications are due Oct. 26. Applications are now being accepted for Spring and Summer 2019 Journalism and Communications Academic Internship Programs in Washington, DC. Possible internship sites include The Washington Times and The New York Times. Students who are members of PRSSA will be given priority consideration during the internship placement process. PR CAREER DAY – PUBLICITY CLUB OF CHICAGO
The Publicity Club of Chicago along with PRSSA are hosting a Career Day on. Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at Columbia College Chicago. There will be a panel with recent graduates who are now working their first PR job, followed by the opportunity to meet representatives from several of Chicago’s top PR agencies. Learn from the panelists about their first job experiences, then learn what opportunities these PR firms have for interns and entry-level positions. There is a $10 admission fee for this event. PRSSA AGENCY TOUR
Our next agency tour is in Oakbrook and Downers Grove on Friday, Nov. 2. We will be visiting David James Group and Advocate Health Care! David James Group is a nationwide business-to- business agency and integrated marketing. The company works with the National Society of Women Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Obesity Medical Association, and more. Advocate Health Care is the tenth largest healthcare provider in the U.S. with a network of 15 hospitals across Illinois. We will be going to Advocate Healthcare’s corporate hub!
